Parental Choice Savings Accounts
The Governor vetoed HB 389, which allows parents of certain students with disabilities to apply to their resident school division for a Parental Choice Education Savings Account. VACo opposed HB 389 because of a provision that transfers payments made to the local school division on a per-pupil basis under the Standards of Quality to be deposited into the savings account and used for certain student expenses, including tuition, fees, or required textbooks at a private elementary or secondary school or preschool that is located in the Commonwealth.
