April 28 deadline to register for May 4 public hearing
March 29 webinar to provide technical overview of the proposed rule
On March 14, the EPA announced a proposed regulation to monitor and remove PFAS from drinking water. PFAS is an acronym that represents a class of perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as “forever” chemicals because they do not break down easily over time and are able to dissolve in water. The proposed regulation will require counties to monitor and remove PFAS from municipal drinking water once it is finalized. EPA anticipates finalizing the regulation by the end of 2023.
Once the proposed regulation is published in the federal register, written comments can be submitted. In the meantime, counties can learn more details by registering for a March 29 webinar at this link. Additionally, there is a April 28 deadline to register and provide verbal comments to EPA on the rule proposal.
