In response to the recently approved one-time national appropriation of $5 billion Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is hosting a webinar for localities on eligible activities and how to apply. The webinar is scheduled for April 23 from 10 am to 11 am. Click here to register.
DHCD will use the CDBG program to assist units of local government and communities in response to the health and economic impact of COVID-19 by supporting planning grant, open submission and urgent need recovery activities. The webinar is an opportunity to learn more on how these resources might be employed in your county.
Additionally, DHCD has adjusted public hearing requirements (see CDBG Public Hearing Requirements and Allowances) in response to COVID-19 that are in effect for all CDBG applications to be submitted from April 13 until further notice. DHCD will continue to work with localities and will try to be flexible while meeting the federal public hearing guidelines.
