The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and the United States Department of Agriculture recently released the Rural Resource Guide to Help Communities Address Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Misuse. The Rural Resource Guide, which was developed by the Rural Opioid Federal Interagency Working Group, provides an extensive list of potential sources of federal assistance, categorized by topic for ease of reference. In addition to programs specifically targeted towards substance abuse, the resource list encompasses a variety of federal programs in areas such as housing, education, and transit.
In addition to the Rural Resource Guide, USDA’s “Opioid Misuse in Rural America” website also features a Community Assessment Tool, which provides detailed information on overdose rates by county in addition to other demographic information.
