VACo Executive Director Dean Lynch speaks with VACo Director of Government Affairs Katie Boyle about the Marcus Alert legislation.
The Marcus Alert was created by legislation passed in the 2020 Special Session. Its overall goal is to ensure that an individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis receives a response from the behavioral health system, to the extent possible, and that when a law enforcement response is necessary, the response is specialized and informed by additional training on how to handle these situations safely.
