As previously reported, The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is proposing a rule to modernize protections for emergency response workers, who often face occupational hazards. In its current form, the proposed rule changes could impose substantial burdens and unfunded mandates upon local governments and fire organizations. In response to the proposed rule change, VACo has submitted public comments to OSHA voicing these concerns, which can be viewed below or at this link. If your county or fire organizations wish to submit your own public comments, you may do so here.
